unruly grrrls!

UNRULY GRRRLS is a fictional exhibit inspired by the Riot Grrrl movement of the 90's. In this project, we were tasked with developing an identity for our exhibit, as well as the design and layout of the actual exhibit itself.

With this project, my main responsibility was the modeling and layout of the exhibit. To reference the defiance of the era, parts of the exhibit are unkempt; wires hang loose (but out of the way of the visitors' path!), and zines are plastered on the walls.

riot grrrl!

The Riot Grrrl movement was born out of frustration—a response to the glaring gender inequities in the punk rock scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

While punk was known for its rebellious ethos, it often failed to make space for women, relegating them to the sidelines as fans or groupies rather than legitimate participants. Women faced harassment at shows, dismissal of their artistic talents, and an overall lack of representation.

This marginalization sparked a need for anew kind of rebellion—one that wasn’t just about music but about creating a feminist cultural revolution.

spray it loud!

Welcome to Spray It Loud, an interactive space where creativity meets technology, inspired by the DIY rebellion of the Riot Grrrl movement. This is your chance to channel your inner artist and leave your mark—digitally, of course—just as the Riot Grrrls left theirs on the walls of culture and history.

By fusing modern technology with the raw spirit of feminist punk, the installation bridges past and present, reminding visitors that their voices have power and that creativity is a tool for activism.
